Fall Party! Take II

Fall Party!
We had a Halloween party this weekend! If you ask Amya she will tell you it was our "Fall Party", because she does not like Halloween.

Most people dressed up, but I didn't pick up my camera until later in the evening. I think there is a picture of the Shaw family in our costumes, but I don't know who took it! I'm trying to track it down.

The evening ended with a bonfire in the backyard. Most of the men congregated out there. I sat with them for a little while and got insight into the minds of men. I heard some funny advice to a father-to-be involving diapers and a good night's sleep.
(did I mention the kids had fun?)

Our First Snow!
It was beautiful and lasted for 2 hours. Then the sun snuck back out. Amya was so excited! We sat on pillows in front of the glass doors and watched it fall. Then she got excited and said, "I'm going to see Santa!"
See, Amya is not too keen on Halloween. When we talk about it or someone asks her about it, she says, "I don't like Halloween. I only like Christmas!" Then she asks us when we can go to Christmas time. I tried explaining "time", "seasons", "order of holidays"...the only thing that made sense to her was that Christmas comes after it snows. Opps!

"Oh No You Didn't!"

We were at the library today, standing right next to the librarian, when Amya overheard something that sparked her interest. Excitedly, she said, "Mommy! That old lady has stamps for kids!"
I tried to ignore her at first, not knowing how to make it better. And of course she just repeated herself, only louder!
To make it worse, the librarian was probably in her 50's, just old enough to make it hurt!
