I Love My Husband!

In addition to working a lot of hours for his job, he picked up some freelance work, too! ...trying to make some extra money before the baby comes. AND he still plays hide-n-seek with Amya while doing both!
(that is his new/used desk I refinished for him!)

Fall Party! Take II

I'm starting to get pictures from our friends...so I've added a few more!

I'm still tracking down that picture of our family in our costumes!

Fall Party!

We had a Halloween party this weekend! If you ask Amya she will tell you it was our "Fall Party", because she does not like Halloween.

Most people dressed up, but I didn't pick up my camera until later in the evening. I think there is a picture of the Shaw family in our costumes, but I don't know who took it! I'm trying to track it down.

The evening ended with a bonfire in the backyard. Most of the men congregated out there. I sat with them for a little while and got insight into the minds of men. I heard some funny advice to a father-to-be involving diapers and a good night's sleep.

The kids did laps inside the house and played "swords" with glow sticks in the dark yard.

Amya was asleep within minutes of Greg finishing this story. Other kids were having screaming wrestling matches all around her as she slept peacefully.

Amya was a flower, Dan was a blond pregnant woman, and I was a black cat (again).

At the party were also a couple dinosaurs, a Rubik's cube, a ghost buster, a few cowboys/cowgirls, a mid evil wench, a magician, a zebra and pea pod, Dorthy, another black cat (I guess I wasn't original enough!), a pumpkin and a turtle!
I hope I didn't leave anyone out.

(did I mention the kids had fun?)

Our First Snow!

It was beautiful and lasted for 2 hours. Then the sun snuck back out. Amya was so excited! We sat on pillows in front of the glass doors and watched it fall. Then she got excited and said, "I'm going to see Santa!"
Uh-oh!

See, Amya is not too keen on Halloween. When we talk about it or someone asks her about it, she says, "I don't like Halloween. I only like Christmas!" Then she asks us when we can go to Christmas time. I tried explaining "time", "seasons", "order of holidays"...the only thing that made sense to her was that Christmas comes after it snows. Opps!

My Amya

As a photographer, I'm so lucky my daughter likes to get messy. It makes for great picture-taking opportunities!!

BTW, I don't ever encourage her to do this! This is just what will inevitably happen if I don't prevent it!

Back In The Saddle Again...

If only for a quick ride!

A friend of mine wanted me to make two little matching dresses for sisters (friends of theirs). So I dragged out my dress making stuff -- after putting them on the shelf for a few months -- and got busy! I think they turned out nice. I hope they like them!

I Did It! I Did It!

I finally went to the post office and mailed Juneau's present (late), Suria's present (late) and Tracy's maternity hand-me-downs (later than promised, but still in time).
I'm so proud of myself!!

***That was fast! Two packages arrived the next day, and one on Friday! Go USPS!***

Who Says You Have To Carve Them?......

.......When you can paint them PINK!

Last Camping Trip Of The Season

We went to Cannon Beach last weekend for our last camping hurrah for the season. The weather was spectacular! Amya loves the beach, sand, mud, shells...anything she can explore. Our campground was a short walk to the cute downtown, with lots of shops and restaurants.

Daddy's Girl!

Amya loved the skateboard park! She takes after her Father!

...making me laugh...

"Oh No You Didn't!"

Again, in a volume much too loud...

We were at the library today, standing right next to the librarian, when Amya overheard something that sparked her interest. Excitedly, she said, "Mommy! That old lady has stamps for kids!"

I tried to ignore her at first, not knowing how to make it better. And of course she just repeated herself, only louder!

To make it worse, the librarian was probably in her 50's, just old enough to make it hurt!
