My Friend Sarah Is Visiting!

...Sarah standing in front of Multnomah Falls...
...taming the monster, who is sick Amya. Nurse Sarah to the rescue!
...not a great picture of any of us, but the only one with Sarah and I together. We are having a great weekend together....lots of coffee, cookie baking, and catching up. Lisa, if you're reading this, we've rehashed many a memory of you!

...a little more Amya...

No, Amya is not getting her dose of greens for the day, she is licking the butter off an artichoke leaf!

Sunny and cold!

Geocaching

So, Sarah and family do this thing called "geocaching." ...and now the Shaws do it, too! It is so much fun. For those of you who don't know about this, you use a website to find clues and coordinates to find a "cache"...which can be anything from a piece of paper where you sign your name, to trinkets or coins, sometimes money! It is a family fun activity...and cheap (after you buy your GPS unit). Here is a glimpse of our fun...Sarah is writing coordinates on her hand before we hike to the site.
...the GPS...
Even Amya got into it!

Sarah pulled a "branch" out of the tree, that had a tube inside it.
This "cache" was stuffed inside a tree, connected to a string, connected to a branch.

A Day With Daddy!

Dan and Amya "worked" outside in the yard, then went on a hike, just the two of them. Here is a peek, through Dan's camera phone....

Beer. It's What's For Dinner

So, Dan came home from the store with "Chelada". It is Bud Light mixed with Tomato Juice and Clam Juice. I don't recommend this. The color alone should clue you in that this is NOT beer. Dan does not give this the "2 thumbs up" either...
This is a challenge: Everybody post a picture of your family eating dinner...if you want to be in with the cool kids, that is.

Babies and Bottles

Anybody have any good tips for getting a baby to give up the bottle?

Amya Loves Strawberries

We had a picnic with friends this weekend and they took this picture of Amya and sent it to us. Amya has a strawberry jammed in her mouth.

Weekend Work

Dan put up the awning this weekend. It was 80 degrees on Saturday. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide a whole lot of shade. It looks cool, though!
I re-built the fire pit and added a couple seats. We can't wait for more visitors so we can use it!

Look Who's Baking Another Bun!!

Congrats Jason, Kara and Henry!

Tax Time

It is tax time, so Dan has been chained to the computer for two days!

Finger Painting

Amya would much rather play with the containers than the paint!

Pretty Things

One of the fun things about moving to a new place in the winter, is that when Spring arrives, you just don't know what is going to bloom! I think we got pretty lucky!

Cheryl Has A Blog!!!!!

So, this is the entire "Nelson" family...currently (two more will be added by fall). John and I have been doing our best to get our brother and sister to get blogs. Cheryl has succumbed! (Bryce if you are reading this, the pressure is on!).

This is Cheryl with Taylor, her oldest child and the oldest Nelson grandchild (even though she is a Priest).
Cheryl, who is a college professor, came to Florida for two weeks in February (when college is in session), to be there for Amya's birth.
This is Cheryl with John, the sibling she is probably most alike.

Welcome Priest Family! To check out their site, just click on "Cheryl and Kevin" on the right.

...All On A Saturday Afternoon...

We went for a walk along the highway trail with some friends.
This is Kailey, Amya's friend from story time at the library, and her mom, Shelly.
