Watchin' Movies

This is a movie of Amya watching a movie! :)...she is watching her cousin, Kadence, and friend, Alden. In the movie they are talking to Amya. After about the 7th time watching it, Amya started chiming in on words she knows (her name, mostly). At the end she is asking to watch it AGAIN! :) Thanks Cassandra for posting the video!

Here Comes The Heat!

So, we're going to get a heat wave tomorrow until Monday...in the 90's!! We've got the pool open and ready for customers (namely Kara and myself...the kids can join us if they'd like)!

Amya is getting ready for some extreem sports with Daddy! (Really, I made her wear this because she fell off the deck twice today!)

No More Fuzzy TV!

Ok, Bryce and Suria...you are not the only "Nelsons" with clear t.v. channels anymore! The Shaws just got satellite! (after much begging, it was my mother's day present)

Monkey See, Monkey Do!

Michigan, Here We Come! (by car...and not now, but in July)

So, I know the price of gas is high...but so are the airline tickets! So, Dan and I decided that driving may be the better way to go this summer. Now I'm starting to get really excited about our annual get-together in Michigan! I got so excited that I found some pictures from the past couple years for us all to look at...At Mackinaw there are a few guarantees...dogs chasing each other and camp fires.
The moon rising over the lake
We always make time for family pictures
Walker and Taylor have set records for how many times they've scaled this wall. Even the adults got into it.
We know the "boys" will have another member by next summer, maybe two!
Mema and MiaI always like doing fun photo shoots while up in Mackinaw...this is one of Bear swinging glow sticks...A ghost picture of Taylor...and Cheryl and baby Kadence (2 years ago)
...sitting around the camp fire...
...time for just chillin' out...
...and friends even stop by (Max, we've talked to Amya and she promises to be nicer this year!).

So, who else is excited about summer trips to wherever?...

If you want to help

Got this email today and would like to post it on the blog incase anyone wants to donate to the cyclone disaster. Apparently it is difficult for forign organizations to get in and help in Burma, so these people are working with a group of local monestaries that are distrubuting food and water and shelter to some of the people effected by the storm....d

Dear MoveOn member,
CNN is now reporting that up to 100,000 people have died from the cyclone that hit Burma. The scale of this disaster is hard to even imagine, and relief is urgently needed. So we wanted to pass along this email from our friends at Avaaz.org (the global online progressive group) letting you know how you can help.-Eli

Why Most People Would Starve If They Lived At Our House...

People in on the conversation: Dan, John, Danielle and Carol
Setting: Sitting at the dinner table talking about cooking
Conversation
Carol: "Yeah, I'm getting better at cooking now that I'm staying home. When Dan's mom was here I made lentil loaf."
Danielle: "Oh, lentil loaf. Was is in that?"
John: "Danielle, I think that was a joke."

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Dancing with Daddy!

Dancing with Mommy (warning: turn down your volume!)

Our First, First Friday

Amya made a friend while dancing to a band

A Day For Exploring!

We found a few new places to hike yesterday.

"Go Daddy" Button

Amya is pushing Dan's mole, the "Go Daddy" button! When Dan and I stop to take pictures or talk, Amya gets anxious and starts whinning. We taught her, instead of whinning, to tell Daddy to go by pushing the "Go Daddy" button. (She also likes the pumpkin that looks back at her...Dan's Jack-O-Lantern tatto). This was Amya's favorite spot. I've never heard her giggle like this before!

We wore Amya out!

Goodbye Auntie T!

The T-shirt wearing dog at Mike's Ice Cream (the local Doozie's)

Amya doesn't need (or allow) any assistance in walking down the sidewalk. She thinks she is pretty cool with her shades.
Book time!

Mike's Ice Cream...the first of the season....on the way to the airport...
...a quick stop at Maultnomah Falls (found you a patch, John).

Amya, in Portland, hangin' out before Auntie's departure.

Eskimo Kisses

Sarah taught Amya how to do Eskimo Kisses. Now they are her favorite!

Motorcycle Mary

This is Dan's friend, Mary. They met on Dan's long motorcycle journey several years ago, and just reconnected after losing touch for the past 6 years. We all had dinner together last night in Portland.

10 Pi Party!

Ok! For all you bakers out there....check out my attempt at "baking" We went to a "10 Pi" Party on Saturday night. A guy that Dan works with was celebrating his 31.4 birthday (for all you "non-math" people like me, that is the number of pi to the 10th power). Everyone had to bring a pie...for fear of duplicating another, I made a rice crispy treat pie and Dan decorated it!
