Once Upon A New Year's Eve...

New Year's Eve 2009/2010
We went to our friends, Jen's and Mark's house for New Year's Eve this year...
Amya and Sadie are infatuated with Cole's Rudolph figurine set!

Working From Home...

...with a little help from Amya...

"Such Things"

I really need to go back in time and post about our wonderful holiday...it really was fun! But until then I had to share a story about Amya's newest phrase, "such things."

I think it is from reading "T'was The Night Before Christmas" one too many times (did I mention Amya LOVES Christmas!?).

When she wants me to leave the light on for nap time she says, "I need the light to see such things"

When she wants to listen to music on the computer (always Christmas music), she says, "Mommy, can you put some Christmas music on so I can hear such things?"

The other day it was sunny and we were driving around HR. I asked Amya if she could see "The Daddy Mountain" (Mt. Hood). She got very excited and said, "Yes, Mommy! I can see such things!"

It cracks me up.

The Next Project

(and probably last one for a while)

We ripped out our gross stained cream colored carpet on New Year's Eve. Today we started the project of laying hard wood in the living room.

Laying the first row.

Make Way!....

...for babies!!

Another one of the benefits of having friends who are professional photographers is that you can get some really cute pictures of your belly with your sister, who also has a really cute belly! Thank you Shelly and Michael!!

Some Cute Kids!

What In The.....??!!

Since visiting Michigan, Dan has picked up a new hobby...shooting guns!! This comes as a shock to me, as I'm sure it does to everyone else who knows Dan, including his Mother. That is why, when I heard some whispering in the kitchen, I was shocked at what I saw when I turned the corner!!!

......um......excuse me??!!

Ummm....

...What is wrong with this picture?!

What is wrong with that kid's parents?!

That's better!

A Winter Morning...

Every morning Dan and Amya watch Curious George and eat Cheerios together. Then Dan sips on coffee (yes, Dan starting drinking coffee!!) and Amya indulges in a "milky bottle" (yes, she is almost 3....don't ask!).
Today we woke up to beautiful snow!! It started snowing in the evening and Dan and Amya went out and made snowballs to throw at me in the window. I was nice and cozy inside by the fire "making stuff" -- that is what I call any project I'm working on.
I should do a post just on the "stuff" I've been making! Maybe after Christmas!

My new favorite seat in the house...right next to the fire!

The Christmas Countdown!

Amya loves Christmas.
There is no way around it. She loves it to a point that frightens me for January (good thing we have a baby to look forward to this year!).
Every day when we ask her if she is ready to do her calendar, she gets so excited she covers her mouth and scrunches her shoulders (the same reaction as when we stumbled upon Santa Clause in Wal-Mart...I'll have to post that picture later). She gets to climb on Daddy's back and pull out a little felt picture and Velcro it to the number on front....but you'd think she was pulling out a hundred dollar bill!!
Thank you Aunt Carol! Needless to say, she loves it!

(Amya is blurry from jumping up and down)

A Birthday Party!

Amya went to a tumble gym birthday party today! At first she was really excited about all the mats and equipment, and kept asking, "Where ARE we?!"
Then she got a little intimidated. But that part didn't last long. She had a blast!!! I think gymnastic classes are in line for next fall!

Happy Birthday, Sadie!

Experiment!

Amya and I did an experiment from her National Geographic Little Kids magazine today. If you want to do it at home, all you need is a glass half filled with water (get a big glass...trust me!), 4 Tablespoons of vinegar, 3 teaspoons of baking soda and 5 raisins. Add them one at a time, in that order, then watch the raisins "dance" up and down! The exciting part came after the baking soda! Amya loved it!

Of course the magazine subscription came from the Geographer Nelson grandparents. If you are ever looking for a great gift for a little one, I recommend this! It comes every other month and Amya loves it!
