Camping

We survived our first camping trip in Washington!...and managed to have some fun!

Things to do different next time:
Bring warmer sleep ware...apparently it gets pretty cold at night.
Bring more toys for Amya...dirt and pine cones only entertain for so long until Amya's instinctual job of waking up the neighborhood, kicks in.
Bring chairs...what were we thinking?

Dan and Amya: Father's Day 2008

Amya's Friend, Kailey

While we were camping, our friends, the Petersons, came to our site to visit with us and fish. Their daughter and Amya had fun playing in the dirt together!

Streakin' Baby

Tonight, after Amya's bath and before I got her P.J.'s on her, Dan announced he was going to run to the store on his moped and grabbed his helmet. Amya, who was picking out which pair of pajamas to wear (for some reason, this is very exciting for Amya), overheard Dan, got up and quickly crossed to room to get her bike helmet. She put it on her head and walked out the front door, buck naked! There were sad, sad tears when we dragged her back inside, helmet still on.

Amya loves to ride on her "speed pod" (bicycle, not moped) behind her daddy!

Happy B-Day Janelle and Jen (sorry so late)

As Long As We're Going Back...

gas prices got you down?

So we are selling the minivan and just bought this as my new daily commuter. A 2003 Yamaha Zuma. 49cc of raw 100mpg 2 stroke power. I can pass pedestrians like they were standing still on this sucker! $4.50+ a gallon? bring it on!

Chapped Cheeks

Hey you other blogging parents out there! Do you ever distract your kid with something, anything, so you can get 30 more seconds on the computer...even just enough time to push the send button on that email it took you an hour to write (while also making lunch, changing a diaper, and throwing in a load of laundry...ahhh, I do other stuff, too. Really cool stuff. Really.)? Amya got the coveted chap stick today...while sitting on my lap mind you...in a mere seconds, she had taken a big bite, smeared all over her mouth, the teddy bear's mouth and my t-shirt!

(whenever I let Amya pick out her outfit, and this dress happens to be clean and hanging up, it always wins! Thank you Aunt Carol! She loves it!)

Painting...take four!

I think I under estimated Amya's interest in finger painting yesterday. After a torturous 5 minutes of Amya pointing to her highchair and crying, me asking her if she is hungry, back to her falling down on the ground in total frustration at my inability to understand what she is trying to say, I realised....she wanted to finger paint again! And so it goes... ( I will be very happy when Amya starts to communicate in ways other than crying and scolding!)

The Fish Whisperer

Painting...take three

Amya watched a video of her friend, Henry, finger painting. I thought we would try it again (as there was little interest the first few times we painted), using Henry as a motivator! There was slightly more interest, but Amya would much prefer just rubbing the paint on her face and licking it :)

Happy 38th Anniversary Burt and Chris Ann! (aka: mom and dad)

June 6th is also the anniversary of when we found out Amya was on her way! Yes, it was June 6th of 2006, 06-06-06...don't anybody say anything!

Mini-Me!

Dan and I have fun making Amya look like us and do the things we like to do (we have to do it now, while we still can control her!)

Burt Is On The Mend!

My dad is post surgery! Everything went great. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
(please don't anyone tell him I posted these pics!)

Books! Books! Books!

No matter which way you look at it, books beat all in Amya's book!
